For one of my classes this semester instead of just writing a basic discussion board post about ourselves, we had to use some sort of Web 2.0 tool to create a presentation for our introduction (that’s the hardest part for me of being a library media education major – all the media stuff). I chose SlideBomb, which is a website you can use to create slideshows. It’s pretty easy to use and had a fairly simple layout so it would be good to use with younger students as well as older ones. Kind of a unique way to jazz up a presentation.

Slide Bomb....Another Easy Slide Presentation Site
I just set up an account on Slide Bomb and tested it out. I really liked Slidestaxx and I think I still do, but Slide Bomb is pretty good too. Took me a bit to figure out what I was doing, but once I got into my slides, they were very easy to make. Very easy to put in links as well. I could see Slide Bomb as a great way for students to make presentations about a topic as they could make a multiple slides with each slide having a picture or video along with about 500-100 characters of information. So they could put research on each slide. Hmmm....maybe they could even provide the link where they found the information so they would learn about citing sources. Lots of potential. If you want something easy to use, and it depends on how you would use this. It's an online slideshow creation tool for free.

It bills itself as a slideshow mashup tool. It makes it easy to pull information, and embed youtube videos and photos from online and that kinda stuff, which again, isn't necessarily that new, but the fact you can then take this and embed it in other stuff too is helpful.

Slideshow presentations have a reputation for being boring. Spice them up with Slidebomb, a new app that makes it easy to add images, add YouTube videos and embed Google Maps.

To use Slidebomb, first you have to go through the fairly painless sign up process to get an account. Then, it’s a simple matter of adding slides and filling them with content. Slidebomb slides are pre-formatted using your choice of three different templates. You can add images either by uploading them from your computer or just by dropping the link in if the image is stored online. You can embed a location from Google Maps by looking up the address, and a video from YouTube by pasting the link into the appropriate text box.

I like how easy and fast it is to create presentations using Slidebomb. Embedding videos and Google Maps may not seem like a big deal, and it’s not, really. However, the developers claim to be adding new options for embedding different types of objects and content, so I think this app has the potential to turn into something cool and useful. As it stands, it’s still fun to play with.

Earlier this year, I posted about a new very easy tool that let you create embeddable slideshows and let you grab images off the web. It’s called Slidebomb. I wrote that I wasn’t thrilled with the name or the picture of the bomb within it, but that my main concern was there seemed to be a number of inappropriate slideshows made by other users that students could see.

Today, though the site announced a free Slidebomb Academy site only designed for teachers and students. It’s looks great.

It’s a definite additions to The Best Ways To Create Online Slideshows.
